I have recently acquired an "older boat" but the serial numbers are incomplete.

Both hulls have the same number: CCMS1279M

That's it.

According to the FAQ, there should be two more numbers and a letter, like my 1979 boat.

Pictures are available but it is clear that there are no more digits and it does not look like anything has been removed or sanded off.

The only other markings are 3 larger digits, noticeable above and to the right of the hull numbers.

Port hull: 613
Starboard hull: 622

There are no other markings on the hulls or pylons. Has anyone ever seen this?

Did the factory whistle blow mid-engraving but the hulls kept moving along the line?

It was common for serial numbers to be such as yours on the assembly line. Especially near model year changes. 3 more digits should have been added at the time of shipping. That would have been build year plus model year. That miss... was not common, but did happen. They had an etching tool in the shipping area to finish as the boat shipped.

Thanks for responding.

So, I have no information to register the boat with?

The previous owner is not responding to my calls.

Not sure, but possibly with inspection by an officer at the Vehicle Registration office... the partial number can be used. I have no records accessible for a boat that old.

Thanks. Looks like the previous owner is stepping up.
