Hello,

I have a passport 12 and the steering rod continues to fall out of the steering assembly inside the hull. It look like the rod does not have a mechanism to tightly fit into the steering assembly? Am I missing something? How do I fix this?

Thanks
Toby

I have not had these issues yet. I do have to tighten the tiller to hull frequently and wish the tiller was larger and smoother. Maybe Honor can respond to a follow up question of mine. As I do feel the steering is a weak point for the passport, I'm wondering if it can be y

A lot of these posts are going unanswered. Is there some reason?

It doesn't bode well for this forum.

I used a hobby version of cyanoacrylate, (CA or Crazy Glue) where the rod is inserted into the tiller. Five minute epoxy would also work.

Don't forget silicone lube to reduce the drag that develops between the rubber gasket and the control rod where it exits the stern.

I also have the same problem, so seems a common issue. It has detached where the rod meets the handle up the front. I noticed there was the residue of some kind of flexible adhesive which had formed a little sleeve on the end of the rod. It would really help to know what kind of adhesive works best. I see cyanoacrylate and epoxy mentioned, but not sure either of these are flexible and some adhesives may not be compatible with the plastic. It looks to me that you could just squeeze a bit of glue in and push the rod back in. Requires a bit of contortion to do through the scupper but better than having to disassemble the whole thing. There are some tricks to disassembly as Ive seen on Youtube, but would prefer the simpler option. Any reccommendation on adhesive?
