 Post subject: Sad day should i get it

well I went tolook at a 1985 18 yellow hobie... Got there looked good till I opened the ports there was like 2" of water in each pod and no idea how long it was there and how it got there. should i stay away and hold off or suck it up and hope it's all ok.

Yes, some owners have no respect. :cry:

Tough to determine without asking a lot of questions. A little water for shorter periods of time, maybe. A few inches for many years, it will be a lot of work to dry everything out & have a good boat. (Additional ports, fans, low heat, ect. Many books on fibreglass repair. If your into that).

Sail them or Sell them.

this guy seem to know his stuff he redid the whole boat. The boat has not been in the water this year. I think it's the port holes both pods had like the same amount for water in them he had the tarp off for thee weeks and there was alot of rain like 2 weeks ago.. I just don't want to get hosed

It's easy to do a leak test prior to purchase. What generally leaks are the ports, fittings, daggerboard area and the deck to hull seam. All are simple to fix. Check for soft spots in the deck area in front of the front crossbeam. small ??? Large, don't buy it. ( I hate delamination issues).
