Has anyone used the Batton tensioner for their main sail instead of batton caps? Found on page 19 2006-2007 Hobie catalogue. How well do they work? Can they be loosened easily and then retightened to the same position?

Thanks, John G.

If your sails flog and the tensioner is loose, it will let your batten come out, possibly shoving the batten through the sail. They're not class legal for racing. They're $10 each, and they take more time to adjust. Just use the cap and line, they're better.
Spend the $80 you'll save on launch fees and gas to get to the lake-- Tiller time is the best performance upgrade.
