Hi, I recently was approached by a neighbor that started taking about sponsoring me with a set of new sails with the company logo/name on it. I do need badly a set of new sails, and would like to get into racing localy just for fun.

Ok I have to talk to him about how this works (Im not asking for rudders and castings as I dont want for him to be overwelmed with costs and make him think I need a new boat) :D

Anyways how does one order a new set of sails from Hobie with "X" company (ies) logos on it?

Also, what if they prefer a solid color sail (red, blue, green etc) with company logo in white for example. Does Hobie make solid color sails as well?

thanks!

for a solid sail your going to need to pick a color from the current sail color options, they will not special order sail material for one sail. Your going to need it drop shipped to a sail loft that does logo's on sails, have them put on the ads and then ship. its not going to be cheep. You may be better off getting your sponsor to just put the logo's on the hulls, any graphic shop can do that. Good Luck!

thanks for the info...
If its cheaper to get white sails and just place the company logo on the hulls Ill go that way.

Where can I get a list price on Hobie 16 sails??
Pricing for solid white and for solid color (in whatever Hobie is currently using) to have an rough idea of costs for the sails alone.

Also which lofts can do logos on sails? Any u know of?

This way I can make up a advetising cost that will cover the sail expense Ill have and present it to them.
:D

look in the catalog, solid sails would fall under the"special" order sails. I am not sure which sail lofts off logo installation, we always go the hull rout, this way you can advertise while going down the road or on the beach as well.

Any idea on the sticker material used to place logos on a dacron sail and where to find it??

Would this be a large sticky back dacron (like sail repair tape) sheet cut on a plotter?

Yep, use stickyback. It comes in big rolls, and they usually cut it with a plotter. I use Larsen sails here in SC to do all of my graphics. They don't build sails anymore because they are busy with all of the NASCAR tents. Check out their site. All of those graphics on the tents are stickyback. This isn't a plug for Larsens, just giving you an idea of what you might find locally. They work from Jpeg files that I send to them via email, they clean them up and run them to their plotter. They then "weed" out the pieces they don't need and put the whole thing on an adhesive paper. The whole process is pretty neat. Lots of cool tools!

Had the graphics on my sails and hulls done by a banner maker. This is the second year that they've been on and no sign of wear yet.

I think it would be wild to get solid black sails and get the Jolly Rogers from the Pirates movies printed on the top part of the main sail
