Anyone happen to know the layout of the pulley system inside the base of the masts used to trigger the release of the foil then pull up the foil.
One of my foil release systems is acting up.
Right now I can set the external connections (line lenghts etc) so I can release the foil lock reliable (pretty critical for beaching) but I will not be able to pull the foil has high as it should ELSE I can set up set it up to pull the foil up high enough but there will be too much tension on the foil lock and it will release unexpectantly during operation. I am am going to open it up over the winter But I wouldn't mind knowing the correct setup in case mine is not set up properly.
I believe it is something like the release line from the cockpit enters the mast wall at the base, goes upward to a 2 shieve block, down to the base of the mast to a 2 shieve block, up to the top block, down to the bottom and then out through the mast wall to the side of the foil. I'm guessing the top shieve must be fixed and the bottom shieve is attached via a line to the foil release mechanism. Consequently when the sailor first starts pulling the foil release line, the 2 blocks provide 3/1 force to open the foil release mechanism. Once it is open, all further pulling results in the foil being raised up (no pulley advantage).
Anyone know if this is correct ?
