Hobie questions

Hellos every buddy !!!! I just bought a used hobie wave 13" and i have a couple of question about it, would be great if you can help my up!!!

1)I dont know what to do with the bow eyestrap, it has like the plastic broken around it, is no really bad, but i need to know if there is any way i can reinforce that area.

2) i use my hobie 3 times and it got like 1 and a half gallon of water inside. is it normal ???

3) is normal that the hulls are just a little soft when you sit on it, because i thing that one of the inspections port that i have under one of the rubber carpets is broken and that is making all the intired hull softer.

It sounds like that Wave has lived a pretty rough life. I hope you didn't pay too much for it. None of those things are "normal". Someone with more repair experience will need to help you. Until then, I wouldn't go far from shore.

The water in the hulls is normal for most cats, if i ever find one that doesn't leak a drop I will never let it go. I would say up to a gallon in a four hour sail in fine.

The softness, is it just some flex or major inward compression? I am not sure but the rotomold is not known for being stiff.

1) The cracks around the bow tang may be from corrosion in the aluminum insert. How about a photo? That would help determine how bad this might be.

2) 3 Times out? Maybe some was in there already. Hard to get it out of the keel area. You can find a leak test procedure in the FAQ topic area of these forums.

3) Yes, the decks are a bit soft sometimes.

There is a sealed port under one of the hull pads (I think the aft one). I'm assuming it's needed for the rotomolding.

A few years ago, we got a couple of used boats in for work that had the ports come unsealed (along with pealing pads). We used 3M 5200 to reseal the ports and contact cement to reattach the pads.

Sorry about my dumb___ post earlier, but at least it prompted some helpful replies.

My new Wave wheezes when I remove the drain plugs on a hot day, so I assumed air/water-tight was "normal".

My previous experience with Waves is at a resort in Florida, where they've had a pair for 4 or 5 years. Despite a lot of abuse by spring-breakers, etc..., there are no noticable cracks or soft spots in the hulls. That durability figured highly in my decision to buy one for myself.

Because my hobie is no new and as some of you said, i bought it from a hotel it may been a little overload with people, i paid U$S 2000 for it. I dont know if it is a good price for USA but in Cancun this things are really expensive. You Will see the pictures tomorrow, besides this little details it looks very good!!!
