Another power Mirage drive option

It's always fun to see what innovations people come up with. I saw this "deluxe" Mirage drive application at the lake the other day about to set out on its maiden voyage:











He seemed to move along pretty well with it. I was leaving as he launched, so never got to find outhow it worked out.

The electric gizmo I had envisioned was somewhat smaller and would be held in place only by the modified drive well plug.

The little torpedo shaped electric trolling motor off the bottom of a 17lb thrust old minnkota. Just drop it in drive well, attach battery and use the rudder to steer,

That motor looks pretty massive, and I'm surprised the battery isn't bigger.

Anyway, my hats off to who ever rigged this up. I wanted to do this just to "see if it could be done" - indulging in my own tool-time project.

I was especially interested in the upgraded model--you know--part #80110-747. Any word on the ETA for this baby?? Also what fuel do you recommend--JP5, AvGas, NSFO, or Diesel? BTW, nice graphic—except that I have one correction that I felt obligated to mention (see below).

Hey guys,
You might think that your jet drive is all just a joke, but I've started building a hydrojet (same as what powers a skidoo) that can fit through the mirage drive well, and can be removed as easily as the standard mirage drive. The curent design is powered by an electric motor, but future designs may be powered otherwise.
I'll try to post cad model screenshots soon, and when it's built, I'll post pictures (and mabe a video)

this IS for real, i've been working on cad models for a coupple of months, but have been having alot of trouble modeling the drive well's shape, which i need to know to build this.

hopefully, in a week or two, i'll have the final cad model done, and will try to start construction.

IslandInventor, It looks great and the idea is a must have for some of us! (More money than sense) It will be interesting to see where it might go.

Please keep us posted as I am always interested in mechanical things and different ideas. I'm new to kayaking having purchased a Revo and Sport this spring.
