I got heavily into Kayak fishing several years ago when it was first getting popular and for years I fished hard from another product but a while back I suffered some neck and shoulder injuries that essentially ended my paddling career. I bought a nice little skiff to fish from but soon found I was not using it because I did not enjoy it as much and it sat idle too much and so I sold it.
This past week my wife and I bought two matching Revolutions and all I can say is,
I LOVE MY NEW KAYAK!!!!!
I am back fishing under my own power and the Mirage drive is the coolest thing on the water.
My beautiful wife, who had never even been on a kayak before is now a Mirage fanatic and we are heading to Baja for two weeks at the end of the month!
A Thousand Thanks !!!!

Welcome Halboo,

My wife's story is similar to yours. She liked kayaking but due to a broken shoulder and elbow & 3 surgery's 4 years ago due to some bastard that mugged her she can't paddle.

I bought a Sport and a Revolution this spring. We have been going kayaking about 3 time a week. They are wonderful and have enjoyed them.

Don't forget that sailing the Revo is great and does very well. You can do a search of <sailing Revo> to read other posts.

One last thing, installing the sailing rudder is about the best accessory you can add for peddling.

Halboo,

There are other posts addressing this. I put one on this spring long before I got the sail. You get much faster response and smaller turning radius. I have much better control when I want to make a U turn or get close to something but not hit it, like another kayak, dock, etc. If am peddling rather fast and turn sharp left I feel like I could flip it to the inside of the turn.

There are some post on how to enlarge the rudder you have if you are handy. The sail rudder is about $23. Others said it was most likely the best accessory you can get. I agree.

"Sailing" rudder is a bit of a misnomer. It's almost essential for sailing, but improves control over your boat under all circumstances.

Although the standard rudder feels pretty good on the Revo, the sailing rudder will increase your low speed authority right down to 0 headway. At double the size, it requires fewer corrections to hold your course in weather. It decreases your turn radius. It's like getting the optional suspension package for your car, but for a pittance!

So that makes it the best bang for the buck in the Hobie catalog. There are two versions and both work equally well. The newer one is easy to identify by the notch in tie front, and is better balanced for sailing. The older one works fine for all other applications though.

Roadrunner,

What you wrote is exactly what I meant. I enjoy reading your posts as they are easy to read. The information you share is complete and to the point. I see now I should have paid more attention to writing class years ago.

Thanks for your support for us newbies.
