I thought it would be a snap to figure out what this boat was, Hobie decals and all, figured it was a Hobie Europe model. 20 foot spin boat, square top, not a Fox. But I'm stumped.

Didn't HObie Europe make something big called the Pacific? I think it is in that size range and that might be what it is.

If memory serves me correctly, the "Pacific" was just a version of the hobie 18 (it had skegs). I could be wrong though.

It doesn't look like it has skegs (Pacific) and the Max is a 16 footer that has a distinct hull shape.

Is it possible it could be a Hobie 21 formula?

The way the top of the hulls rise at the front cross bar tells me that this is a Hobie Europe product. The way they do their tramp frame, similar to a H15, (which I've sailed in the Caribbean,) confirms it is out of Europe.

Looks suspiciously like a Hobie Fox, a 20 footer. Lots of common parts to a Tiger.

Foxes have inverted bows (like the newer Acats, Capricorn, and Infusion), this boat doesn't.

The hulls rise in front of the crossbar in the exact same way as the H21. This along with hardcore slice in the front of the hulls is what makes me think its an H21. This is all just assuming its not just an older H20. Unless Hobie Europe at some point made the Pacific without skegs I don't see what this could be from the European line.

This H21 looks exactly like the boat in question.

P.S. how do you post pictures?

It is not a H-21.

A H-21 has curved crossbeams and a softer bow knuckle, like an 18 or a 17. A H-21 also has a deck lip.

It looks like a H-20 / Hurricane 5.9 hull form with a different deck to accomodate crossbeams, etc from a Tiger/Fox/FX-1 (all share common parts).

Some of those pics in BLR_0719's post do look like the H21
this one looks like a H21 (curved beams, deck wing inserts)
Image

but this one below is like the pictures at TheBeachcats.com (straight beams, daggerboards instead of centerboards and beam end wings) but that site has them both listed as H21's, and the boats in question have a 20 on the sail, very confusing.

Maybe some guy was embarrassed to have a G-Cat or something and put a Hobie stick on the side and on the sails too. :P
It's like looking a ski boats. If they don't have the logo, they all start to look alike.
