Followup if any one is interested...

Purchased two Full-Auto harnesses, one XL and one M. My 10yo can fit in the M and so can I (6'4" and 200lb) when I have a bigger/wider crew. My uncle sails with me sometimes and he is around 5'8" but would be about 200-220lb and he can't quite get the M to do up so he uses the XL and I use the M. It's just long enough for me so seems to be a good mix of sizes.

The harness is awesome, not that I've got anything to compare it to. Adjustable back support is good. Easily adjustable for sizing and on/off tramp.

Hi guys,
I still do not have a harness and before I buy one I want to try to use my kitesurfing seat harness.

Earlier in this post there was a discussion about windsurfing harnesses... I'm not sure what they are, so I can't make any judgment.

So has anyone tried a kite surfing seat harness? Their hooks are indeed different from the Hobie harnesses. They look like this: http://www.islandsports.com/Itemdesc.as ... 94&eq=&Tp=
I hope the link will show the hook. This is not what I have but this gives you a idea. Also the bar is pretty wide, I will need to measure, but I think it is at least 10".

yes Spreader bars on kite harnesses are different, as long as its a seat harness it should work just fine, as long as you can switch it out to a cat spreader bar.

So, Brad, do I read you right - it is very important to have a cat spreader bar because of the different hook? The kite hook will not work?

Thanks a lot!

I tried my windsurf harness before, which has a spreader hook similar to the kite harness, and I found that the hook was too shallow for my liking: because the windsurf hook does not curve as far around as the cat hook, it is much easier to become unhooked at times when you don't want to! Just a small amount of unweighting would do this...when windsurfing or kitesurfing you tend to be much more upright compared to hiking out on a cat. So my advice would be to go with the cat hook!
