Shawn,
I am very pleased with the Tiger sails. I purchased them used so cost was very reasonable. The self tacking jib was the best upgrade for many reasons. I too love the durability of the 18, especially after owning and destroying a Fox. Interestingly enough after all the upgrades I still don't have 3k in the boat and trailer. The Fox set me back 10k. My 18 also has wings, which are nice for ocean cruising. If another performance boat were to be purchased in my future it would surely be an F16. And it won't be a Hobie, obviously! The 18 with Tiger sails isn't much if any faster upwind than a stock 18 or 18SX. It is quicker down the hill and more responsive. I would quickly recommend you convert your 18 before spending on a Tiger or other F18. I will continue to request NAF18 remove the curved crossbar ruling to allow converted H18's to compete as F18 straight up. I don't think converted H18s are truely competitive with F18s, but they are real close. I know I would like to ride my 3k pony past a 20k F18.
