So what is this, I see the championships are going to be in Iowa? Looks like clear lake is only about 5 hours drive for me.. I don't race, but I really would like to get some time on a cat with more experienced people.

When is the race?

Lets just say I was interested in attending said event...but not race, would there be any chance to get on the water with some experienced sailers to hopefully learn a few things? I could bring my boat with me. I'm a big guy though... don't want to sink anybody. :) 265lbs.

I don't have a comptip and um, I've never raced, so I really wouldn't be ready to jump into that arena, but I've never seen another cat on the water here in Oshkosh.... I see a few on the dock, but never out cutting waves!

Just make plans to come down for a few days and I'll make sure you get on the water for a fun sail and also on a spectator boat etc.....to watch the races. We've got events planned nearly every night, it will be fun. Contact the Best Western of Clear Lake Iowa for rooms, use HOBIE CAT as the group name and you'll get the el cheapo rate.
You can contact me offlist [email protected] to get any help you need. Just head west until you hit I-90 and keep going until you get to Albert Lea, and head south for 30 min on I-35 and you're here.

Thanks Chris. I'm potentially changing jobs in the near future, so I'll have to hold off on reservations until that is all settled... but it's great to hear that I can come out and have a good time with you guys.

I'll bet that has something to do with it.

They're being delivered by Dog Sled.

Still that's a pretty sad statement about how bad the flow of stuff is across our friendly border. I could have gotten it anywhere in Canada in 3 days regular mail, and I'm sure the same is for you guys. I have a brother in Idaho and usually send stuff to him first to save some hassle. I guess it just seams so weird that we are good neighbors and all and still a lot of US company's won't ship to Canada because of all the border crossing crap. Politicians must stay away trying to figure out ways to complicate our lives.

Why would we in Canada be ordering a hockey stick from the U.S.A?That would be like an American ordering a Baseball bat from Canada.Wait a minute come to think of it some MLB players are already doing that.

You know darn well, you run down across the border to pick up some good watered down Miller Lite and a bottle of Canadian Club. Yummy.
