I am trying to assemby my uncle's hobie cat who passed away a few years ago. I am brand new to hobie cat sailing. I have the assembly manual. I am having trouble see what the part look like. Can any one take close up picture of their hobie cat 18 and send it to me? the more pictures the better....thanks

I agree that the pics in the PDF are incomplete and GRAINY. It appears to be a scan of a half toned original.

I'm a new owner as well. I'm a little luckier in that my hulls/tramp were assembled but all the rigging was disassembled for shipping from another state. I think with help from this forum I have solved most of my issues. (Sailing it is a whole other ball game) Because of that I'd love to give back a little.

2 caveats: My 18 has magnum wings which means a few extra fittings on the crossbars. It also has a motor mount that apparently involved drilling out rivets and moving 1 fitting.

I'll stop by the storage space tomorrow and shoot the major assemblies and Email them to you. If you have specific needs let me know.

Hi Guy,

I'm willing to help you but it maybe easier if you E-mail me. My address is listed in my profile here and on CatSailor.com, Ok.

Please read my other posts here, you may find some information that I recently posted interesting to you.

I can not do pictures yet as I just got a computer, but I have had a H-18 since 85', therefore, I would say I have a "wee-bit of knowledge" about the boat.

I'll start with some basic questions: What year boat is it? (need serial# from transom), what rudder system is on it? (Blades and Castings), do you have the rigging?, Is it completely apart with the crossbars seperated from the hulls? What condition are the sails in, sail # is helpful in determining age if known? Are you planning to keep the boat somwhere w/ the mast up? or are you going to trailer the boat to different events on different weekends?(gypsy racer?)

Contact me and we will see what we can do to help
Harry
