FRANKENBOAT rudder question?

I'm putting together an '82 H16 with piece parts from three different boats. I have three sets of rudders. One set is a hard plastic or fiberglass material which is fairly light. Set two is also a hard material that seems to be somewhat heavier in weight than the first set. The third set is heavy and dense and has more of a rubbery plastic or vinyl composition. Can anyone tell me which is what and/or which one I should put on the boat?

What colors are they?

If the first set is black - EPO Rudders. They're the best. Use them

Second set - white or black - probably racer rudders. Good, but not as good as EPO's.

Third set - White or used to be white (yellowed) - probably Lexan. Put 'em on eBay and some yokel will pay $50 a blade for them.

I had black EPO rudders on my old boat but all three sets I currently have are white although all are old and fairly yellowed. The first set are attached to the later model adjustable tiller arms with the sliding allen screw. I guess it makes sense to just use those rudders since they were (presumably) drilled for those particular castings.

If they came with the adjustable rudder castings, but aren't EPO's - then they are Lexan. They're OK, but they flex way too much.

Avoid the ABS rudders. They have a nasty tendency to break off right below the rudder castings.
