I picked`up a 16' with a bent mast. I have no idea what it will do to the perfomance of the boat. Is it a big deal?

From what I've heard and read a bent mast will likely make the boat sail fine on one tack and worse on the other. But that's no reason not to get her out. How bad is it bent?
