I bought a GoPro Hero 3 digital video camera. Works pretty good for a $150 camera. Waterproof case makes it boat friendly.

We've been having a hard time keeping the gopro's in stock. They are a great camera. The shoot very good quality video and snap shots as well. You can't go worng with one, we research them a bit before we brought them into the shop against the other one's on the market.

Walgreens has two 100' waterproof reusable cams with case ... one for 14.99 no flash and the other 19.99 with flash....I took one to the USVI and BVI July and have great diving shots underwater. I also take it in the mesh bag with all the diving stuff, get beatten up and still goes..... or just hang it from the gooseneck for the unforseen shot u wanna take...the not planned for ones.

Now ure talking waterproof digital, a few more bucks... I would still carry one of the walgreens cams to beat up or as a backup. My digital I keep in the drybag and take out only at shore after drying my hands! :D

I’m going to be picking up a Go Pro Hero3 very shortly. I’ve seen different photos and video samples and it looks great for the money. As far the SD Memory card goes. I want to do video while sailing so I what as much storage memory as possible. The documentation states I can support up to 2 GBytes SD Card. Do the quality/speed of the card matter? Do I need a SD Ultra? What do you suggest?

By the way, I'm confused by the specifications. PoPro web site states "54 minutes high quality video on 2GB SD Card" . I've seen in review that this is a "10 sec - Max clip duration" Is this true?

I bought a plastic waterproof case for $6.99 at Walmart or Sportmart or REI or somewhere.

Just the right size to hold a pack of cigarettes or my Samsung nv-10 10 megapixel digital camera.

Hard, clear, plastic with a nice clamp down seal and rope. I hang it around my neck or stick it in the drybag. Works great.

Reading this post I was looking at the GO Pro. I found one review that said pictures were soft and it has no view finder or LCD panel. I guess you point and hope you get what you want.
I think I would get discouraged and want something better. I take pictures and will crop then to get the subject closer, like a bird in a tree. Hard to crop with 3MP. Just MHO. I will be looking for a water proof bag for the one I have.

the "Go Pro Digital Hero 3" will shoot up to 54 minutes of video and sound seamlessly. Its not just 10 sec clips its about a hour video. This will also be about the end of the batterie life. There is a view finder but no lcd panel. I'm using rechargable batteries and 2 gig sd memory cards. I really like the cam and video capability.
