Thank you for the compliments about Div11 ... there are some very good sailors in my Division and they are wonderful people to boot ... and likewise in the"Open" class. I have been fortunate to have people like Wally Meyers, Rob Sterling, John Flanigan, Jimmy Glanden, Rich McViegh, Randy&Janet Payne, Kenny Hilk and to many other to mention who have made me sail beyond my ability and make me better and that is only the H16 class For the H18 class people like Tim Stater, Mark Scheckshure, Reed Hayward ... took me under their wing and taught me the ins and outs of the H18.
So you are correct ... if you wish to sail against some of the best you need to come to Div11 and race.
"The Statue" race is scheduled for July 5th this year I believe at Sandy Hook Sailing Center , their website is
www.shbc.org, you can verify tha dates there.
I would not recommend single-handing in "the Statue" race because when you are inside the Verrozanno Bridge it is a TOTALLY different world ... strong current ... all other boats are bigger ... ferries are everywhere w/ rights ... but still it is an AWESOME event to do. I've done it on my H18mag ... Mystere 6.0 w/spin ... P19MX ... so you will enjoy it on a H20 ... but Rich McViegh won it one year on his H16 .... personally I like the faster boats ... more beer drinking time after the race!!!!
So come on up ... all events are listed on the Div11 websites or
WWW.sailCRAC.com
Hope to see you
Harry
