That's the color scheme I have and apparently it's called "Cat Fever". It was made in the early '80s.

Thanks! They came with my '81 which I bought before reading anything on here! I was an uninformed buyer, which is a dumb buyer! I ended up with a boat with two large soft spots in on the top of the hulls. I got roted 'em but still didn't feel comfortable sailing in the ocean. I parted the boat out and bought my old SOLID '83 back. When I bought my '83 back it came with tow sets of sails(the sunrise and a set from the ealry 90's the second owner bought) I just sold the 90's set and have just about finised parting out the old boat. Once I sell a few more things I will have a extremely nice equiped(Two sets of vinatage sails with two sets of harken 6:1 low profile blocks trailer with toy box, and sail box and many more extra's!) '83 that only cost me $800

The sails I got with my '86 were a near-mint set of "White (nationals) Prism," but I really liked some of the older patterns. I have since picked up an ok set of "Tequila Sunrise" sails and a really nice set of "Cat Fever" sails.

I wasn't looking for TS sails but stumbled on a set, that included a boom and battens for $100, so couldn't pass it up, if just for the boom and battens alone. The sails were only in fair shape- really dirty, with a lot of rust stains too, some shroud burnished batten pockets, and a few ripped batten pockets. A lot of elbow grease, detergent, and rust remover did wonders for the appearance. My local sail guy took care of the rips, so now they look great! (see first post in this thread)

I spent some time hunting for my original intended target- "Cat Fever" sails. I checked out Ebay and Craigslist (used Crazedlist for nationwide search), for people selling an H16 with two sets of sails. If one set was Cat Fever, I tried to talk the seller into selling me just the Cat Fever sails separately. After a few false starts, I finally talked a seller out of an excellent, but stained and dirty set for less than $200. Again, elbow grease and cleaners worked wonders- I am now a self proclaimed expert at removing rust stains from sails. It is amazing how many people don't know the sail pattern- many incorrectly think they have Tequila Surnrise!!!

In addition to my Tequila Sunrise sails in the first post of this thread, I now also own the following:

White Prism

Cat Fever

She may not be fast, but she sure is pretty!!!!

My first 16 had those sails, (85') what I want to know is if they really are the national prism sails. I think those had "Absolute Vodka" on them. My 85' H16 sail number was 87858.

Yes, the '85 Nationals sails did have an "Absolut Vodka" logo on them. Remember Wrinklie's yellow 14 sail?

For a number of years, new sail patterns were introduced at the nationals. That's why it's called White Prism (Nationals).

My '84 had a white Prism originally as well

I've got an early 90's (judging from the sail number 94665) white Prism that is slightly different in stripe colors (without rolling it out can't be specific)

What's up with this vintage Prism? Were they made for a Nationals? Have seen others with similar numbers.

The original Prism (#70 on the chart) had the colors reversed (blue on the bottom / yellow on top) and the colors were 1 panel higher in the sail. It was introduced in 1983.

The 85 Nationals white Prism (#84 on the chart) is what's shown in the picture above. The sail numbers used for the nationals boats were 01 through 50. Two of the Nationals sails became "package boat sails" (the other was Sunburst - #88 on the chart).

The sail number on that sail places it firmly in the '85-'86 timeframe, since the '86 nationals sails had numbers that started with 90101.

In 1989, the Double Prism was introduced (#109 on the chart) - but it was obviously different - the number of stripes in each panel was doubled.

Making sawdust=making money. Haven't been doing enough lately. The trades are pretty much in the crapper right now. Started a kitchen today after not having anywork for almost 2 months. I had to basically give it away. I'll be lucky to net $500 out of the deal.
