OK..what's the next step?

Not Ctrl-F5

It's [shift]-F5

Forces a reload of the web page (doesn't pull it from the cache).

Ummm.... I believe either does the same.

And it's not just cache on your personal machine. It forces a reload from the hosting server.

A little research -

[ctrl]-F5 for IE 7
[shift]-F5 for IE 6

But both work on IE 6. Go figure.

I'll take your word for it... Firefox is Ctrl-F5. Shift-F5 does didley.

Just hitting F5 refreshs the page. Comes in handy on ebay when counting down the seconds to snipe a bid in.

The problem with that is that the servers between you and the hosting server may fill your request from their cache, instead of pinging the hosting server for an update.

There's a lot of congestion compared to the old days of Darpanet. To reduce traffic, pages that have a low update rate are frequently displayed from cache. It's a real PITA for websites with dynamic content.

Esnipe will do that for you. You don't have to get up at 4 am anymore.
