Every wave I have rented has the blue covers coming off, is this a cronic problem with the boat? I thought I would look for a used wave for the kids as the getaway is too much boat for them, but the peeling covers are a turn off. Also do they put smaller sails on the rental boats? I rented a wave in Idaho this last weekend, there was lots of wind but the boat sailed like a lead sled!!

I have 1995 Wave that I bought in 2000. The seat pads just have a couple of small nicks. It has always been covered with a tarp in the summer and broke down and stored in the winter. The pads look like new with no signs of comming up, everything is almost orginal and still looks new. I rented one in Jamaica in 2007 and it was trashed. No pads, broken battens, rudders, ripped tramp etc. Must be the rental fleet with year around exposure and tourist abuse.

yes those seat pads tend to come off about every year in the rental business. We simply glue them back down with contact cement, easy fix.

Don't forget, the Wave has only 95sq. ft vs the 180 of the Getaway. It will feel slower.
