2)what kind of paint did you use (as in was it enamel or whatever)?

Yes, cheap rattle can spray enamel, yes but not too bad, holding fine- I'm into the second season after painting.

Alignment is easy since you have a reference edge. If you take care when taping and ensure the edges are down tight so you don't get bleed under, and mask off areas that will not be painted it is a snap. I can't imagine what problems there could be. Plus enamel comes off easily if you make a mistake.
