I found that the pylons on my 16 had nylon nuts that were cracked. Well I wanted to take it out so I bought some nylox jamb nuts (Thin nylon locking nuts) and put them on only enough to come 1/16th from the pylon or so the bolts would still turn. I bought new nylon nuts should I replace the jamb nuts or just leave them on?

I replaced the nylon nuts with SS nylocs. As long as you are careful and don't over-tighten they work just fine.

I'd leave the jamb nuts on as long as they are stainless. I tried to find some SS jamb nuts to replace mine but ended up just buying 4" bolts and using regular nyloc nuts.

When I bought the nuts I had to buy a bag of them and I use my 16 in fresh water so I will keep an eye on them and replace as needed. I would think they should last a long time?
