I have picked up a 89 hobie 16. Been sailing the same one since i was a kid but never got the chance to own one until now. Everything is solid on it no soft spots or anything. My problem is not sure the name of the part but where the rudder attaches to the hull where the bearing is i have found a small crack. It goes through the gel coat. My question is how can i repair that? Or is it even possible? I do not plan on any racing or hard sail just a weekender or vacation toy for my family. So any help would be great. thanks alot in advance.

Is it possible for you to take some digital photos of the crack and attach it to an email? If you can, send it to me @ [email protected] . I'm a strong believer in "a picture is worth 1000 words". Some gelcoat cracks are nothing to worry about, but then others are. If you go the photo route please take one up close in macro, then work back from it to show it in relation to the whole transom.
