Jib halyard question

I ordered an original-style replacement jib halyard for my 1973 H16, part #20661001.

The dealer sent me what the label on the product says is an Aussie Style halyard, #20661011. I don't even see this part number listed in the parts book... anybody have a clue if this part replaces the 2061001? I don't see how this can work for my boat.

You would need more parts to make that work.

What you got was only the wire part of the system. There is also a need for a bunch on line and some other parts that are included in the Aussie jib halyard system (# 80660000).

The Asussie jib halyard system is standard on the boats and has been for years. It works great.

Just get back in touch with your dealer to get the right parts.

I was trying to draw the line and not replace everything in one season, but sounds like I am a good part of the way to an Aussie system already with this part in hand.

So the question becomes is what I received actually a replacement forestay with the upper block for Aussie system? If so, do I just need the halyard line and the lower block (#H099)? I might just continue down this path if I'm guessing right here.

That is correct. The line is pricey. Spectra.

1.60 a foot x 70 feet.

The kit complete is $132.00

Can you get away with something other than spectra?

The Aussie system originally came with a low stretch line, so... sure you can. Spectra simply holds the tension better. Line will have to be re-tensioned from time to time on the water.
