The Getaway sometimes is considered the lesser of the Hobies but we should all keep in mind what a nice looking and handling boat it is.

I was out on Sunday in Lake Michigan out of Milwaukee. The winds were southwest off the shore at 16 kts, 87 degrees, water temp of 69, and almost no waves. My boys (9 and 7) and I flew by every monohaul out there and no fewer than 8 different sailors inquired as to what kind of boat we had, noting that it is very cool looking and fast.

Just wanted to share.

On smooth water yes...we've noticed light wind in rough water the monos will often smoke us...but the moment wind picks up to the point we can get up on plane....by by monos....

of course we live in RI and often sail around newport...we've got yachts like Puma (VO70) and Speedboat around and well...theres no competing with these guys thats for sure!

I didn't think the getaway would actually get up and plane?
