My '02 Getaway sail number is 714 which I think is great for several reasons  but my mast has a sticker on it that says 64000, is that a part number? Surely I do not have the 64000th Hobie.

Correct... Mast stickers have no relevance to number of boats made. They are simply a tracking number.

Is there a great big database somewhere that tells you what mast number originanlly went with what boat? I mean, if its for tracking purposes, you should be able to track something useful. I wouldn't mind knowing if my mast was originally a comptip mast, or if it was originally all alum.

Unfortunately, not a usable database. The number gives us limited ability to refer to logs in the factory. Not search able.

Pretty good cut-off date on the all aluminum masts. They started coming standard and retrofitting in 1985.

Oh well. I was just curious if my mast was the original mast that had come with the 79.

It has a comp tip, I just can't tell if its a retrofit or off a different boat.
