I have a little slop in my rudder gungens, causing the tip of my rudder to have some play(The pins are new).Has anyone tried drilling out the gungen holes to put the rudder bushings in the gungens as oposed to the rudder castings?

Can't speak for the bushings- I wanted to put the cast gudgeons on my '83 boat... I had broken an original, dealer was out of castings and I wanted to get back on the water...new replacement gudgeon is a cheap- looking stamped piece! Doesn't appear nearly as substantial as the original ! Enough ranting.... When the gudgeon broke, I discovered that both pins had substantial wear, which wasn't real noticeable until I removed them completely! Can't really say how old they were though, and shouldn't be a problem with new pins...... Dave
