I took my boat apart this year, took about 10 minutes. It has been taken apart every year for about 15 years, and there have been no issues with "stiffness." Relax lads, it's a small boat he's taking apart here, not the space shuttle.....

Yeah... Wrong. You just haven't noticed. Kind of like how the frog doesn't realize he's getting boiled.

But hey... It's your boat. And I sell parts. Including brass shims to tighten boats back up.

Or maybe I don't give a (censored), I'm not out racing, just having fun. But if I do notice the ol' gal loosening up...I'll order those shims!

Not that I won't sell them to you, but you can get brass shims at any good hardware store (r.e. not lowes or home depot). Support your local mom and pop stores... And your local hobie dealer. Seriously.

And you're right... Non-racers probably won't notice. And once a year isn't that many cycles.

But the 16 was not designed to be disassembled on a frequent basis (I'll leave the definition of "frequent" to another debate). Doing so adds additional wear and tear to the boat. These things are expensive enough as it is. Let's not shorten the life cycle if we can help it.

Once again.... My free advice and worth every penny.

Yesterday we finally got a crew together and lugged the beast through the woods to its winter home.
Thanks for the feedback.
