Hi, all. I´m a Brazilian H16 owner (my boat is a 2003 one), trying to update the jib control system (changing the jib traveller and other components). But it´s not easy to find a new H16 around here, so I will really appreciate if someone can send me (or give me links) of pictures of the new jib control system (currently being used by Hobie on new boats).
Thanks in advance,
Marcelo

Hi, guys. Can someone please share some pictures? I can´t believe that new boat owners don´t have at least one picture that shows this. :D

Matt, do you have pictures of a new boat (the jib control system) to share?

Thanks in advance, and kind regards,

Hi, David.

Yes, there is. If you look on Hobie catalog 2009-2010, page 24, you will see the new traveller car, where the cleat is now incorporate in the traveller (part number 25232201 and 25232211). Mine is the old one (swivel cam cleats on the crossbar), and I want to upgrade to this new one.

:D

Cheers,

The only thing that's changed (in the US) since 2003 is the addition of roller bearings to the traveller car (they're like the main traveller). The integrated tracks / cars w/cleats have been standard (in the US) since 1995.

They could have been doing something different in Brazil, though - using older style extrusions, for example (with the riveted track).

Hi, Speedawg and Flip57, thanks a lot for your help, really appreciate.

MBounds, even in the catalog it´s saying this is standard since 2005. Here we had a traveller similar to the main traveller, with a block, in a new style extrusion crossbar (no riveted track). We also had 2 cleats, 1 to control the movement of this traveller, and another one (swivel) to control the jib itself. I´m posting a picture of my old system.

Maybe Matt can clarify since when this new traveller with cleat (part number 25232201 and 25232211) is standard in HC16.

Thanks again for your help!!!

That style traveller has been stock on the US manufactured 16's since 1995 - when the integrated tracks were introduced to the US. Initially, they had just a delrin slide in the track. In late 2005, they were replaced with the roller bearing ones that are in the catalog - but it's the same style jib traveller w/integrated cleat.

It looks like Hobie Brazil was doing something different - which is similar to what came stock on the boats in the late '80's / early '90's in the US when we still had the riveted jib track.
