Does tramp color matter?

I am needing a new tramp since mine had a blowout last weekend. It was pretty much gone anyway. I was trying to decide what color tramp I wanted to purchase. I was curious if a black mesh trampoline is hotter than blue or teal. I live in Texas where the summer temperatures can be brutal. I don't want a tramp that is going to be searing hot to sit on when sailing. I have also read that a black mesh trampoline will last longer than a colored one. Any Texas sailors out there with black tramps that regret their color choice?........or does it even matter?

We're in comparable climes, and I can tell you that the black mesh doesn't get hot. (Now black anodized aluminum....OUCH!). I've never heard anything about one color lasting longer than another, but I highly recommend a tramp cover. My '98 black mesh is like new.

We have a black mesh tramp on our boat too. While we don't live in Texas, 100 deg. in the sun is 100 deg. in the sun and we get a lot of that in the summer. Well not this summer, all that global warming made us cool and VERY rainy . I like our tramp although its all I know so I can't make a comparison.

What ever you do, make sure you pour some beer on it once in a while, tramps like a little beer on them...HA HA.

My understanding is, "anything you do to deviate from the natural color of the material the tramp is made of will lessen the integrity of its strength." The natural color of this material is black.

Well, I decided on the blue mesh tramp. Got it installed today and really like it. Can someone tell me what the 2 silver grommets are for that are on either side of the tramp next to the rail? I thought maybe they were for routing the trap wire bungees through but they seem to be too close together and too far forward.

Front one is for the traveler sheet, just tie a stopper knot on the underside of the tramp. The other is for the return bungee on the crews trapeze.

The front one is for the crew trapeeze bungee and the back one is for the captain trapeeze bungee. They are in that position to keep the trapeeze out of the way when not in use.

Confirmed... two small grommets are for trapeze bungee. This was added a few years ago. Personally... I don't use them. Doesn't allow free movement aft on the rail, for the skipper specifically. I would be sure the bungee is loose or use a long one and route thru turning blocks under the tramp for that location. They do keep the wires well organized when not in use.

Can you explain more about the turning blocks? Were trap bungees longer and thicker in 1987? I just replaced mine and they seem smaller in diameter and much shorter.
