All, I have had a recurring problem and I hope someone can point me to a pin that won't fail. Twice now, my clevis pin has popped out of the forestay adjuster while out on the water. Fortunately, my jib was carrying the load so the mast did not crash down. It almost did, however. I was going to lower my jib when my wife noticed the forestay dangling down on the mast. As I stated, this is the second time. The first time, I had just righted it from pitchpoling and the pin popped then, as well. I was originally using a ball pin to hold the forestay in, but after it came out after the righting, I changed to a clevis pin with a hinge pin. I couldn't believe that the hinge pin came out. I could probably solve this by using a clevis with a ring ding, but it would be a real pain to try and put a ring ding in when the adjuster is over your head, while the boat is on the trailer. Does anyone have a suggestion on what type of capture pin I can use to hold my forestay? If you could also point me to a supplier, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
