Hi guys
I am a 15 year old boy and i am moving up from a 14 and dragoon and down from a 18 do you think it would be wise to pay alot for a new boat or buy a 2006 boat that is in good condition for about half the price...

Any thoughts

PS:I have sailed before and i am not wanting a learning boat......

hey dude I'm 16 and got my 1979 hobie 16 lat year, the boat is amazing but being so old it has soft spots. this is common on old hobie cats. if you find a good deal on an old hobie i would check out the top of the hulls for soft spots. The tramp is important to look at too, get up on it and see it it will hold you and that it is not brittle. And always look at the sails, I think that you would no this as u said that u have sail a good bit. The last point is all the hardware, look for where in the cables and where the side standing rigging connects to the hulls, this area can crack and then you will demass your boat.

so look for soft spots, check out the tramp(i got one made by Amish people off ebay, but you cant race with this tramp, but there so much cheaper than the hobie tramps.) And check the hardware

The 2006 sounds like a good deal. Not much difference between that and a new one.
