Orderd a new Adventure Fishing Moss last week. Thought it would be a least a month before it arrived. The dealer called Friday and said it would be here this week, that he found one at another dealer in the State. Should I be thrilled at the great job the dealer did to get me a boat or be concerned that the boat may not be new out of the box. Could it have been a demo, return, or older model? I know how to check the serial number but other that that how do I tell. Also I upgraded to turbo fins. How do I tell if they are the "Second Generation Fins"?

At any rate I started getting ready and spliced a lots of tie down lines. Don't like knots. It takes a little time to splice braided line that small and my hands a raw, but such is life.

Nice job on the lines. You might want to use different colors lines, so when you grab one, it's the right one, when in a hurry.

Ranger, congratulations on your new Adventure! Here are some things to look for for the skeptics among us....

Last 4 numbers of the serial # tell when made and year model. K809 was built Nov '08, but is an '09 model. C909 was built March '09 and is also an '09 model.

Hobie prominently stamps all their demos on the top areas of the cockpit in at least 2 places with the letters DEMO -- you can't miss them. Inspect the hull. If a boat has been out, there is almost always telltale scuff marks on the bottom.

The boats are normally packaged, as are the Drives. Tell your dealer if you want to be there for the unwrapping.

Look for the brass insert on the Drive sprockets (where the fin masts are attached) and the term "V2" stamped on the side of the sprockets to make sure yours is an '09 Drive. That's important if that's what you're paying for.

There should be a signed factory check list of everything included -- Drive, seat, gear bucket, paddle, dry bag, manual, etc.

Keep in mind that many dealers unpack your boat, pre-inspect it, make adjustments if necessary and go over everything with you.

Enjoy your new boat! 8)

Picked up the Adventure Today. No problem at all. Dealer left everything packed and went through everything as we opened it up. Got quite a bit of extras at no cost. I got to my list and their was nothing left to ask. Ordered it July 29th and got it Aug 5th. Thanks to the dealer and the regional rep for going out of their way to find the kayak at another dealer and transfering it. "Riversport Kayaks" Homosassa, Florida "Kirk"
