Went out this past Thursday in 25-30 with gusts at 35 or so. Waves up at 4-6'. It was quite the ride to say the least. Well, about a mile off shore my lines were dragging off the back and crew was on the wire. I was pulling the lines back on board and we got hit by a rogue wave, maybe 8' or so. The boat went up, stuck the bow and basically cartwheeled. My crew was thrown thru the sail somehow and the boat ended up turtled several yards from me. Even turtled it was all I could do to catch up with the boat in the rough surf. Found that my mast wasn't water tight and almost couldn't right the boat to get back. On the beach it was pure mayhem as many had seen the boat cartwheel and not come back up. They sent a jet ski out to check on us and I asked for 15 mins to try and get it righted before I was going to leave it. It did right and we pointed it at the nearest land and held on downwind thru the break, out of control. Broke the tiller extender again, stretched bungees out and lost a couple items from the pockets, but everyone survived. I think I may be too old for 25 - 30mph winds as I was incredibly fatiqued after it was over. Seemed like we were out there forever but it was only 45mins or so.

I have ordered a new main from Chip at Whirlwind. I opted for a squaretop SX sail instead of an F18 sail. The SX sail will fit my mast better and give me more sail area in the process. I hope it will sail faster than my destroyed Tiger main.

I started reading that waiting for your excuse not to sail in the Surfside beach regatta. Glad to hear your ok. Next time leave the crew on the beach. Hear me now believe me later. The 18 is much better one up.

Dude, you know what the wind was like this past week. I couldn't have gotten thru the surf solo. Weather channel said 30 sustained but I don't think it was quite that strong. See you in a couple weeks!
