Lisa,

Great to hear the perspective of another gal about my size! No one here in Arizona does demos, so I will be purchasing blindly. Based on all of the amazing feedback, the Revo does sound ultimate. Sounds like Hobie got it just right with that kayak!

Congrats and have fun!

Lisa

Hi sawdustlisa & all...

For what it's worth, i too decided on the Revo - without trying other alternatives. Also, the demo i had in the Revo lasted five minutes - and then one of the fins fell off its hinge, and i had to wiggle my way back to the dock
It was a used Revo, that the owner of the dealership bought for himself, which also served as a demo-yak. Hence, it had been used quite extensively. So i wasnt worried, when the one fin malfunctioned, as i had already read up on a lot of Hobie-info, and knew how easy it was to fix. But these five minutes in the Revo, together with what i've read here and there...made me order one, including the UFF-package and the Traxx a few days later. Actually, right now im waiting for the DHL-truck to cough by my address and deliver the goods. :D

I am new to yak'in - but also very impulsive. I love to fish, and have been doing so since i was 12 or so. Now the Revo is my Next Level™, as im kinda tired of waling up and down coastal lines and lake-shores, only to catch mediocre fish.
Living in Sweden (though being a dane), i have soooo much fishable water around me, that this Hobie can only be considered an investment in fantastic adventures....though, still, impulsive! I can't wait to take her out :!:

I never really considered the Outback. More the Adventure Island, actually. But, being new to peddle/paddle-fishing, i could see the practical aspect of starting a bit slow (though not too slow...i hate that *hehe*) in a Revo. And then, maybe later, upgrade myself to the joys of the AI. But for now, it's Revo-time. And im pretty confident thet soon-to-come tune-up's will include bigger rudder and ST (maybe even Turbo)-fins. Also, im hooked on the inflatable outriggers for added stability. SO...lets see what my account allows.

For now. i just have to wait for that DHL-truck. DAMN time can come to a stand-still sometimes...hehe.

Good luck on your Revo - and be sure to let us hear about your experiences and, not the least, see those grumpy fish it will produce :D

Break-a-leg...

For what it's worth, I'd just re-emphasize: try before you buy! I went back and forth between the Outback and Revo for almost 3 months before I got in the water with either - finally went to the dealer with every intention of walking out with a Revo based on everything I'd read on this and other forums. I'm now the proud owner of an Outback and haven't got an ounce of regret. Personally, I wasn't wowed by either the Revo's paddling abilities or speed - the difference between the two was (to me) slight. The difference in comfort, however, was huge! I'm a tall guy (6'4" and 185#) and a fisherman; although both cockpits are similar with respect to pedaling, the Outback feels much roomier, and has loads of extra space to lay your gear. Hit a nice school of specks the other night and was very appreciative of the extra space as I was simultaneously wrestling fish, juggling the net, baiting lines, and re-rigging a broken hook. Easy in the Outback - but would have been crazy in a Revo. I guess it all depends on what you're using your yak for, but if you're a fisherman, I sure wouldn't write off the Outback based on these forums. Give them both a good workout.
