Here I sat yet another weekend with very little wind. It seems as though every weekend for at least the past 2 months the wind is too light to sail. :( Its really typical for daytime in July or August in northeast Texas.....very hot and very little wind. I watch the forecast expecting to see at least one day with some wind, but it is always 5 - 10 and most often at the lower end of that scale. I gaze out the living room window hoping to see the trees swaying only to see the leaves as limp as can be. The wind did blow around 15 for a couple of days during this week, but work just keeps me too busy. At any rate, if some of you have a little extra wind, please send it my way......and preferably during the weekend. I will be anxiously awaiting its arrival, so git off your butts! :D

ET,

Sorry about your wind conditions, here in Charleston the wind and waves are really kicking up with Hurricane Bill out there. I'll try and ship some your way! I'll be hitting Charleston harbor and Sullivans Island tomorrow on "yellow cat". My other 14 Turbo "rio" is in the middle of a face lift. She'll be back out on the harbor next saturday. Hope the wind picks up for ya'll and have a Hobie day!

Kind of the same here in Northern Indiana for saturday, very calm today but not hot, only 65 for a high here today. Thursday and friday had winds of around 20pmh and I was lucky to get out and sail, retirement does make that easier. just think you will still be sailing when we are getting snow and ice. ....Jay 79 H16, 98 H18

Wow! 65! I can only dream of that! We actually had a cool front pass through that dropped the temps to the lower to mid 90s. Not so bad for August. We're gonna drop to the upper 60s tonight. I may be sailing when you begin getting ice and snow but to this point, I am not really into winter sailing. Just not geared up for it and not sure I could find any suckers to crew. We'll get some wind sometime soon, but I am ready now.

rsbw, glad ya'll missed the storm. Galveston took such a big hit from Ike last year, I believe it still has a long way to go to fully recover. I usually make 1 or 2 trips a year down there, but haven't made it this year. Enjoy your time on the water.

We had a crappy summer here in Wisconsin.. only 1 day over 90... meant the lakes really didn't warm up much... and even when it was warm, it seemed like there was no wind. I've only used my hobie once this year. :(

Just got back from 3 days on the chesapeake on a 43' monohaul... wind was light there too.. but it was 85 everyday. :)

OMG!!!!!! When will this ever end?!?!?!?!? With a great 3 day weekend ahead, winds are forecast from calm to 5 mph each and every bleeping day. Haven't sailed since June and I am about to go crazy. Would it work if I installed a gas engine powered shop fan on the rear crossbar?

OMG I can see i am a lucky guy! I live in copenhagen, Denmark, Europe where we 95% of the days have minimum winds of 8 m/s, app. 15 knots, so really i have never seen lack of wind as an issue - sorry guys. Actually it's more the opposite when the winds start reaching 10-12 m/s and i am on my first hobie season things get really interesting and you'll see me and my crew swimming in Øresund after severak kapseizings :-)

Anyways, i wish the best winds for all hobie-sailors!

i live in NW louisiana and have the same troubles. lets face it, summer in the arklatex sucks. I go through this every summer. Give it 2-3 more weeks and we shouldhave wind and nice temps. Stay strong and endure amigo - your not the only one not using their boat.

Cool.....look forward to meeting you in person. If it makes any difference to you, there will be lots of 16s and few Waves. The distance race on Saturday can make for quite a long day!

Bringing a 16. Weather looks iffy - 50% chance of storms both days and S10-15 winds. Dont care about rain - I dont like lightining however.

Agreed. Luckily, we'll never be far from a sand beach in case we have to bail....AND we'll never be far from an excellent BAR and GRILL!

See ya' tomorrow!
