I just bought a H16 and today while replacing the batten ties in the jib I noticed all the battens were short when you snug up on the ties the batten cap goes in the sail so that the cap barely pokes out of the pocket. I already ordered the Super Jib Battens for the boat but do not think they will arrive before the 3 day weekend and I want to sail this weekend.
Any reason this might cause damage to my sail?

No, and it's probably the best way to deal with the stock jib battens to keep them from hanging up on the halyard.

Mine only stick out about 3/8".

it might pop through but i would think its unlikely. but you could just take the battens out of the jib just for the weekend.... you probably wouldn't even notice a difference.
