We're in one of those logic loops here Aledal: if I agree with you that we never agree on anything, then that means we agree on something, but if I disagree that we never agree on anything, that means I think that we agree on something. The only possible conclusion is that I think we agree on something, but I'm wrong. But you can't agree with that last sentence, so you must think I'm right that we agree on something. My head's starting to hurt - now I need some betel nuts.

Now -in reality... I think that we are really agreeing to disagree on whether or not we agree or disagree. Its probable that this agreement may not be agreeable-BUT( by the same token)... it was agreeable before it wasnt. Or at least thats my interpretation. So its accepted that we actually agree.
Thats what I thought I said in the first place Chrisj.

But you Aussies are tricky bastards... :D
Congrats to Pirate on the pin revision(and Hobie too)
PS-Thanks for the compliment on my taste in music :D

Thanks for another interesting post Aledal! 8)
I'll have to work my way down your list. Some there I've never heard of.
It's not contemporary (though neither is Wagner  ) but Felix Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture (Fingals Cave) captures really well the rolling surge of the ocean:

The usual cliched surf music fits AI type sailing (as in Hobie promo video) so anything by The Shadows, The Ventures, Dick Dale, and even our own great Aussie band The Atlantics works (Bombora is a classic).
One of my favourites is The Oil's tribute to the above styles with their Wedding Cake Island named after a rocky island off Coogee Beach:

PS-Pirate should be keelhauled for his Handles in the Wind

These Waves - Young American Primitive
Out Of Body Experience - Rabbit In The Moon
Obsession - Fuzzy Logic
Wave Dub - Dope On Plastic
I Can't Stop - Mellow Mellow
Blue Fear - Armin
Waters [Phase III] - Taucher
Blown - Harris and Doman

Thanks Twerto -never heard of any of them. You must be a young blossoming Bastard. Of all your songs which do you think is the best? I posted the original question in the hope that I might discover new music relative to sailing-or the ocean etc. I certainly got my wish list... :D
And hopefully turned others on to some great stuff as well.
Of all the songs I posted... I`d have to give Vangelis`s ANTARCTICA the sleeper award.
It sailed in right under the radar.

90% of the tracks can be found on the Northern Exposure cd mixed by Sasha and John Digweed, Cd came out in about 93 - 94 if i remember right, So im not a complete spring chicken ;) Admitadly I choose them more by their name than perhaps what you would enjoy while sailing. ( as that is more of a personal choice imo as is most things involving music ) And they come mainly from the dance era in the uk at that time.

Hehe no worries, it not often i get told i am younger than i am ;o)

it is a tough question as i have so many but these all mean soemthing for me in various ways...

Satellite Serenade - Keiichi Suzuki

Papua New Guinea - Future sound of London

Lemonorange - The Youngsters

Spellbound - Rae n Christian ( not sure if they did it but it of their northern soulphuric album )

Joy Division - Digital

Slam - Positive Education

Theo Parrish - Sky Walking

Nick Drake - Riverman

Jose Gonzalez - Remain

Dajae - Brighter Days

Nightmares on Wax - Les Nuits

Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy

John Martyn - Sunshines Better

Fleetwood Mac - The Chain

and for blowing away the cobwebs

6 million way to die ( choose one ), hardcore version.

sure there are a loads more if i could think of them right now.

and out of that Papua New Guinea by Future sound of london is one i always reach out for when i cant think of what i want to listen to.
