Shouldn't this post be in Help with Repairs / Problems?

Dont know why I erased it. It had to do with 9-11-2001.A song called "Downtown".Petula Clark/Hatcher. Im on vacation during that time. :(

I honestly dont know why I erased it...

But on the brighter side my new handles are coming to actuality.

Galvanized steel through aluminum tubing reinforced by thicker aluminum tubing.
Socked straight down through the cleats.

Engineers and terminologists assure me of a comfortable grip with little or no wind resistance.

Remember the ALEDAL Co. motto...
We think we are...
Therefore we are...
(We think... :?)

PS-You cant erase a post completely without editing it. So I edited it down to "a"
Sorry.

I wouldn't use any steel other than marine grade Stainless. Galvanised steel and aluminium will corrode unless anodised or suchlike. Put steel and aluminium together with salt water, you have a battery. That is why the Range Rover et al are such rustbuckets.

Thanks Rok-Where were you when I needed you? If I electrocute myself....(kidding) but we all have to take our chances with the gods and chemistry and happenstance.

Happenstance... now there`s a great name for a rock band.

Im simply saying the handles will protect me from going overboard in real time. Decay (hopefully) will happen years after.

Do you think there is a need to hold on to something better than the molded handles on the boat?
That`s what Im trying to promote.
As Chrisj would say...if he could...
it`s all a "Question Of Balance"

Hello again-thanks for the advice. Im trying to utilize the cleats already in place.
Its not as easy as you might think. Finding"marine" hardware to custom fit to the Island.
I want the handles to be lightweight & anchored securely to the boat.
I havent checked out "West Marine"s stock yet but doubt if they have anything.
I think this is a very serious topic.

The sailor must have something to grip hard on to in wild water/weather.
Balance must be kept otherwise we go overboard.

Not 9-11-2001.

Handles. A subject relative to the sailor and his boat.
Although I seem to be a minority here... :)

Hey Slaughter!-thought of you the other day bs-ing on my bus with an avid cyclist and doing trivia. Ever see a movie called "Breaking Away"?

Anyway... forgive my obnoxious persistance but I`ll post the damn handles when they`re secured to the boat. :D
