Hello fellow Yakers

I have a 2008 and a 2009 Mirage Revolution and am interested in getting a performance package fro both. I gather from reading other posts that the Sailing rudder is the same, but that I need to be sure and get the newer threaded ST Turbo fins for the 2009.

My question, (assuming I'm right about the assumptions above) is whether the newer threaded model of the fins will work for the 2008, or if I need an earlier model set of fines (or maybe I need to update some parts of the '08s mirage drive - hopefully not)?

Any help would be most appreciated!

Best,

George M

For the '09 you need the V2 ST Turbofin Kit ( its the threaded longer masts and turbo fins)
For the "08 you need the ST Turbofin Kit with the set screw mast ( longer mast with set screw slot and turbo fins)

IMO, Adding the sailing rudder and V2 Turbo fins is best upgrade that can be done. I did it to my '08 Oasis and '09 Adventure.

I would recommend, however upgrading your '08 sprockets to V2 sprockets (about $15 each) and going w/the V2 ST Turbofin kit. Its an easy upgrade and well worth it, because the turbo fins will stay in place. The turbo fins on the set screw masts tend to loosen up and drop because of the added torque. That is why I upgraded my '08 drive to the V2's, never had a problem or worry since! When changing sprockets, re-lubricate everything it makes a big difference.

Bob,

Thanks much for the advice - I'll be upgrading to the Turbo fins this week and appreciate the tips!

Best,

George

It may depend on when your '08 was built/delivered.

We just bought an '08 and '09 Sport. I definitly didn't want two incompatible sets of spare parts. The dealer said the '08 was a later build and had the same V2 drive as the '09. He was right. The retaining clips in the hull are different, as is the rudder flip up mechanism, but the drive units are both V2.

Take a close look at your two drives, they could be both V2.
