Rudder Problem

Hi there. Just got my 2009 Mirage revolution in the water for the first time today. Overall, it went very well. the water was very rough, whitecaps, swells...etc. MY main problem is that the rudder kept popping out of position. i had to peddle with one hand on the rudder on the left and the other hand pulling the "down" t-handle on the right. when I didn't do that, the rudder popped up and I lost control of the boat. the owners manual states there is a cleat that can do this, but not on my boat...there is a cleat but it is another 4 inches from the T handle. anyone else have this problem, Any Ideas?

Yes, the rudder will not stay down unless cleated. Try pulling more line out. If it doesn't reach the cleat, possibly something is hanging up inside the hull. When in doubt, that it back to the dealer for adjustment.

Thanks for the tips. I just went over all of the "wiring" diagrams and stuck my head in several holes. my rope is about 4 inches short and there doesn't appear to be any extra on that side but there is about 2 feet of extra on the "up" side. I think I'll have to just re-string everything and it should work out ok, of course I'll have to disassemble the rudder to do it. anyone done that before?

OK, thanks for the info and the pic. after going over everything it appears my lines are too short and there is no extra on the "down" side. the "up" side has about 2 feet of extra line. It appears I'll have to re-tie everything. Any tips? I found a few diagrams on the hobie support pages.
