I hope I'm not repeating old news but I was on the Hobie Aust. website today looking for a manual and notice that the AI is now available here in Caribbean Blue. Very nice.

There is one place in the Uk advertising you can buy it in Moss, Ivory Dune, Orange, Blue, Red and yellow.

I just assumed they had got their info wrong.

I just had a look on the Australian website and they seem to be only offering Hibiscus and Papaya. Are you guys sure you're not looking at the Adventure, as opposed to the Adventure Island?

I think it is just a bit of poor web design, someone has copied and pasted details from the adventure

Website here

Hi

this is the site:

http://www.hobiecat.com.au/sailing/adve ... sland.html

I got there by going through the support page but should still be the same. The colour is only in one of the discs at the bottom not on the boats higher on the page.

Hey, that's weird. I went to http://www.hobiecat.com.au/kayaking/adv ... sland.html. The page looks identical, but without the blue disc. :?

Yeah, they have a mix up there. The boat is only available in Papaya and Hibiscus.

So Matt - Why?????
Are you Hobie guys worried you won't be able to keep up with demand if you offer the AI in all those other cool colours? :?

I agree, it would be nice to have some options, but it boils down to SKUs. Part numbers that represent raw materials, finished goods and dealer inventories. Our production facility and warehouse are difficult to manage with too many options. Dealers have constantly asked us to keep the options down. Imagine a smaller dealer having to stock every color of every model? It is really though.

Matt, since you already produce the components for a Dune AI, would it be so difficult to offer it as a complete boat? I believe you Americans came up with this gadget called a computer, which is quite good at managing inventories. I dunno about the States, but in Australia, you have to order your boat and wait for it to arrive, so it's no extra strain on the dealers. We're talkin' extra sales here - money!!!! :)

I have campaigned for that myself... Management and sales departments did not go for it in 2010 model year. There is always next year though! Decisions are made in the spring typically.

Can see that stocking every colour in every model may be an issue, but is it a possibility to special order another colour if you are prepared to prepay and wait for this to go through the production system and overseas delivery ordeal :D
