He actually owns a house right on the point. He made some fat money somehow in the computer industry and one day realized that the quality of life of us normal working stiffs wasn't worth it. He gave away all of his stuff and basically has the surfboard, house, Hobie 18, and another 24' sailboat he just bought. He's living the dream as far as I'm concerned.
