My friend has been out of work for a little over a year. He's the greatest guy, and would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. Anyway, he bid and won the Hobie 16 hull from the 40th Anniversary that was painted by the famous artist Wyland. The hull is also signed by about 15 very influential Hobie cast from back in the day. This is a one of a kind piece of Hobie History. It has been hanging in his garage since the 40th.

See the hull being painted mid way through the Hobie 40th Anniversary video here:

Delivery to the Havamega on top of my truck is an option.

$4000

Hey all Hobie Cat Sailors,

Why don't we all, if you possibly can, donate some $$ to this guy so he can keep this one of a kind piece of Hobie history? I've believed my whole life that Hobie is not only a hobby but a way of life. I also believe (this sounds corny) that Hobie's are in our blood. I have been so lucky after some pretty horrible crap in my life to be back in the Hobie world after 19 years. I was helped by fellow sailors, and I am forever grateful. We are a very giving and special group of people. Some of us more fortunate than others at any given time, but we would all help a fellow HC sailor. Just take the time to read these posts!! (were a very patent bunch too! i.e.: the year that your Hobie was made is located.... ) I cant give much but I'm willing to help. I may be out of order for suggesting this....but I don't believe so.

- Guys at Surf City Cat's please e-mail me and let me know where to send it.

Have a Hobie....life. 8)

I would have bought that over the new sails.WOW That is a rare piece of art. Last boat Wyland painted was Abracadabra for the AC challenge. This may be the last chance to buy a signed Hobie Alter boat on top of that.

I'd love to own it but I haven't got the foggiest idea where I would put it. I think Hobie Cat should buy it and find a great place in there building to show it off. That was if we come to visit the factory we can all share it.

I just spent all my play money for the year. Jeremy you know all about that but I got $3500 I can get a hold of. I'd want to pick up the Hull in Santa Cruz in a month or so if thats OK with Johnny. If he gets back to work before I pick the hull up He keeps it and just pays me back the $3500. Will that work?

Wow guys,
Thanks for the support. This is truly a difficult situation that happened to a really good guy. Thanks for the offer to send him some dough to keep it, that's very generous, but I think he'd just as soon see it gone.

Rich,
If you want it you know where to find me.

I'm trying to find the money if I sell a set of sails I can swing it.

Ok Its sold. I just bought it. Now I really need to move one of those STX mains. Thanks J for looking out for Johnny O.

Now After 12 years of 18's and Tigers I finally bought my first H-16 hull.

It took some doing to get the cash but Its done and the check got mailed today. Johnny is a great guy and its a really cool piece. Come on a Hobie hull painted by Wyland, and signed by The legends.
The only reason I didn't buy it at the 40th was that it's a 16 hull.
