Matt, since you already produce the components for a Dune AI, would it be so difficult to offer it as a complete boat? I believe you Americans came up with this gadget called a computer, which is quite good at managing inventories. I dunno about the States, but in Australia, you have to order your boat and wait for it to arrive, so it's no extra strain on the dealers. We're talkin' extra sales here - money!!!! :)

I have been trying to get answer about this one for quite a while now, and still only getting the same responce, that dealers don't want to carry an extra colour, but since there is already a dune option and most dealers (in Australia) order in the AI's for each sale any way this is a pretty weak excuse.

But the biggest question is why can you get the Dune AI here in Australia, as a kit but have to pay nearly $1000 extra, and then have to put it together yourself?

Matt, I read that you campaigned for the Dune to become available as a complete AI, did you get any reasons (other than already stated) as to why this can't happen?

Reasons are the same as stated before. Sales department, reaps and dealers decision on the number of SKUs we manufacture, warehouse, sell and ship. I am still working on them. Not typical to do a change mid model year, so look to 2011 for a production Dune AI, earliest, I would think.

Thanks for the reply Matt. :D I think its fantastic that you take the time and effort to communicate to the Hobie Owner community. was hoping to buy an AI for this summer, but maybe I will wait for the 2011 model now. Besides, the way things are heating up in Australia, I suspect I won't get much time away from work this summer any way!
