We just recently took out my friends 16 (my girlfriend and I) and she made the comment that it sure would have been nice to be able to listen to music while we sailed. I am about to purchase a 16, and while I am getting it worked on, I want to get all the issues solved at one time, so I don't have a "work in progress." Would my best bet be just going to Best Buy and buying a boom box, or is there a more permanent solution?

Here is an idea, where you would normally put a through hole you couls cut a hole for a 6'' round water proff speaker. Then mount the radio under the back crossbar and run the wires through the crossbar into the hulls. You would also need a storage spot or another port hole to put some batteries but that would be a problem. I don't no if this would work or not but i thought it would be fun to hear the responses ha

Thanks! That looks good....I like the idea of something permanent, but that waterproof ipod case looks perfect! And on the cheaper side too! I just may have to invest in it....And I will let you know how it works out for me! If only I could convince BOSE to come out with one!

My children got me one of these 2 years ago for fathers day, Not super loud, but I use it on my motorcycle at 45+MPH and can hear it. On the boat, I rap it in a gallon double ziplock baggie and put it in the cat bag strapped to the tramp lacing. Works really well.

Have you ever capsized with it on board?

Not sure, Maybe.

I do test the baggie by holding it under water. Also have had the cat bag get completely soaked by water rushing over the front cross bar. Leave a bit of air in the bag and it will/should float.

Sounds good! Do you think that could be done with just any small boombox I have laying around the house?

I am also ready to add tunes to my boat. Here are some motorcycle speakers with amp that I just found on the web. http://www.motorcyclespeakers.net/shop/stereo-speakers-amplifiers-26-ctg.htm

Now with a waterproof MP3 w/ FM tuner and you should be able to have tunes with small battery and plenty of power....

Aquapac has a bag that looks like it will fit my speakers as well, I just never have had them with me when I have been at REI.

also, motorcycle speakers will require a 12Volt battery, these use 3 AAA batteries that last 4 - 6 hours of play time.

I'll measure any of the Aquapac bags you like. I've got a wall full of em.

Brad,

Do you know if a Zune (2d generation, 80 GB) will fit in the Otter Box? Do you have any waterproof bags made to allow access to Zune contols? How about waterproof headphones or ear buds?

Thanks,

MVD

this bag should fit the zune http://sunjammers.com/item/view/272-Wat ... -Code-515- there earphone are some of the best I've seen yet.

I think it would work in the ego Ice otterbox but I can't be 100% sure. I'll do some research and see what I can find out.
