I have a H-16 hull I am mounting on a shelf in my living room. Whats the best way to hold it to the shelf keeping it upright?

Its a display piece I want to show case in my home. I just want the nicest way to hold the hull up on the shelf.

Thanks for any Ideas.

I know what you've got there!

It will look funny without the corner castings and sidebar. You could get used (they're on eBay all the time) and paint them so they look good. Then make some "crossbars" from wood and integrate them into the wall structure. If you do it right, it'll look like it has no visible means of support.

Otherwise, just make some cradles - one forward / one aft.

You realize there is a higher calling for that hull:

Would that be the Wyland hull from the 40th?

Yes its the Wyland hull from the 40th.
I'm going to mount it on a shelf in the living room. (Yes my wife is letting me put a H-16 hull in our living room.) I have a shelf I just made and I plan on placing it on the shelf. Guess I'll go with the cradle idea.
Pics to follow once it's done.

I was at the 40th watching Wyland work his magic. We visited the Wyland Gallery in Hale'iwa on O'ahu last week :D Very beautiful works of art. Man cave or living room...you're still lucky to have it...with an understanding wife too

Good luck with your project.

- 4 sets of dagger boards

- And a new cement Boat Pad that Alison got for me from the Cement Finishing Company she works for! :D

Almost Ready to put the 14 up for sail now that Jordan has Johnny O's"old"16 for him and Philip to get ready for Lake Arrowhead in August....

Matt is right again. The hull should be made into a bar (like the 16 shown or the Tiger one they have out east) I watched that hull get painted, pretty friggin' cool.
