I will be buying an Adventure Island shortly but am unsure about colours. I see that a few months ago you set a poll up about preferred colours and you included the dune colour, which was by far the most popular choice.
Is there a chance that the dune will be available in the near future as I would be happy to wait a little longer to get the dune. As it is available by ordering separately, I can't see that it would pose any financial issues for Hobie to make it available to buy the Island in the dune.
Cheers

Dune is only available as an add-on kit for an adventure. The next change in color options comes up Sept 1st / Model year change.

Does this mean we will be able to buy a dune AI from the factory then?

Not yet decided, but I have been pushing for this. May be Dune hulls with the sail from the Red AI.

Why not the original Dune sails?

I think it has to do with available stock of the red sail one more than anything. Looks good in red though. The only difference from the gray / white "Dune" sail is a narrow panel of red. We will have to see A) If sales will offer it and B) the current inventory of the sails at that time.

I want a clear one, with clear amas and a full transparent sail. Don't worry, I'd wear clothes sailing it. Most of the time.

Me too!
I mean, what's not to like? ...but I'd want the "dune sail", too.

Actually, the "Red Sail" does have that RED panel the length of its leech - AND each batten pocket is RED, AND the mast sleeve is RED,
AND all THREE round reinforcement areas at the tack, head and clew areas are RED, RED and RED. (A bit too much RED for a Dune AI...) IMHO

I wish I didn't have a strong preference, but I do.

(Thanks to the yakabout website for this great pic of an AI Dune.)

(Psssst: Sometimes do you wonder if the reason Hobie doesn't offer the AI in Dune is because
they're worried they'd have a hard time selling their current yellow and red inventory?)

To my mind the Dune just looks so much more like a real Sailboat, very tasteful.

"New model", in Sept,? Maybe some changes?

Hi. First post. I'm a long time stalker on this forum. I've probably read every post under the "Adventure and Tandem Island" at least twice. I'm definately a potential TI customer, but I do not want a bright red or bright yellow boat either. The results of the color survey clearly show customer demand is for dune.

Personally I would like a moss or dune. Realistically, it looks like dune is the most reasonable color choice for Hobie to provide as a third color option, and I'd be happy with a dune if moss never came available (probably never will).

I sure Hobie has business and supply reasons for not offering the most preferred color choice to customers, but hopefully Matt can continue to use our input on this forum to push for more rapid availability of color options. If a dune TI option we're available I would have already ordered one.

As for the compromised solution of a red sail on a dune body; I would not be interested in that solution. It makes me think about this:

I'm sorry my first post has this negative vibe. I'm excited about Hobie's products and the TI. I'm just passionate about this color availability issue, as I'm sure many others are. Finally, I would be willing to pay a reasonable premium for an all dune TI. Just please make it available in time for my mid-May trip to SGI. Can it happen Hobie?

R.

And what's wrong with that? It's very colourful and probably would never get stolen. :D

The is no Dune option at all for the Tandem Island... only for the AI. The first possibility is going to be September when the model year changes hit.

I like the Dune too, but the red sail on Dune hulls does not look like a rasta boat!
