Well if you have a date for AI in mind I suggest giving them a call (or ck the calendar, thru reserve america, I think) because a couple dates I wanted were already booked up.
I could go on and on about the Delta. It's such a great place for a boat. Latitude 38 has a lot of coverage and tips, keyword delta do dah.
Here is a list of launches:
http://deltaboating.com/boatlaunch.htmHowever, it is missing some, such as Korth's Pirates Lair, that's who I would use for the Loop. The Delta is huge, the Delta Loop is the core, most central hub with the most amenities. They have a good restaurant and sell ice too with safe parking (I say safe because there is the odd tweaker/theft issue in the area). If you want to camp look at Brannan Island, it's a state park. You can provision up at Lira's in Rio Vista, before the Loop. There are also grower stands with great, fresh local veggies and fruit. Some of the marinas may allow launch and camping, just call around. That's one of the nice things about the delta - boat up bars, restaurants, ice even a convenience store with a dock/restaurant. The thing that can be annoying (although it is nice to see people out having fun) are all the powerboats and their wake. You will get swamped but in the Summer-Fall water temps are 70f on the main river and can heat up to low 70s, even mid, on hot days in shallow sloughs (pending snowmelt and air temperature).
